Week 31: Words From The Wise

Can you feel it? The year is just about over, which means that you will all soon be the top-dogs of the school!

That also means that soon the sophomores will become upperclassmen. Now that you’ve just about survived your junior year, what advice do you have for those below you on making their upcoming year just as epic? Do you have suggestions on what they should or shouldn’t do? Things they should definitely try, or mistakes you’ve made that they can learn from?

Pass on your knowledge, oh wise ones!

Week 30: Who Are You?

Oh, no! After a freak accident involving a banana, a couch, and a rampaging chicken, you were knocked unconscious. When you awoke, you couldn’t remember who you were! Hello, amnesia!

Thankfully, you’ve always known that something like this would happen to you. You already have prepared a panel of 5 experts to re-teach you about yourself! You trust them to be honest with you as they tell you about: your academic life, your social life, your life at home, and your professional life. Are you a good student? Do your co-workers like you? Do you have the best jokes? Do you always forget to take out the trash? Your experts are here to help you remember.

What 5 people would you have on your panel? Remember that you want every aspect of your life covered, so pick a variety of people! What do you think these people’s perspectives are when it comes to you?

Week 28: I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends

We’ve all had those moments where we’ve doubted ourselves. It’s difficult to keep in mind that we’re only human, so it’s ok to make mistakes or get frustrated with the way things are going. Sometimes all it takes is a really good friend to help us through.

Write a letter to someone who has believed in and supported you, even when you doubted yourself. (You don’t have to tell me who it is you’re writing to if you don’t want to.)

Week 27: Welcome to the Black Parade

Quick! Think of your favorite song!

Got one? Oh, good.

Now, write me a fun little story based off of that song’s title. For example, if your favorite song was “Barbie Girl” by Aqua, you might tell me a story of a young girl who met an evil magician who turned her into a plastic Barbie! How terrifying!

Have fun with it!

Week 26: Words in Retrospect

It happens to all of us. We find ourselves in a situation that requires a perfect quip or general observation…yet words fail us. That is, they fail us until hours later, when we suddenly think of THE prefect comeback or comment. Every single time, we think, “Why couldn’t I have thought of that sooner?”

For example, if I had chosen to tell off my high school frenemies instead of enduring their nonsense, I could have spared myself a lot of unnecessary high school drama.

Tell me about a situation when you wish you had said something (or made a different comment entirely). How would that situation have changed? Do you regret not saying what you wanted?

Week 25: Theme Songs

TV shows can have some catchy theme songs. Theme songs are easily recognized and get stuck in everyone's heads. For example, take the Spongebob theme song. Even my father knows all of the words!

But what if your LIFE had a theme song? What would your song be about? Would a famous band sing it? Is it a particular genre? Would it follow you around while you go? What are the lyrics?
